You can find souvenir shops, boutiques and stalls, restaurants/cafes/fast food, a small shopping mall, art shops, gym, cinema, casino, hotels, offices, convention areas and much more.It is a very touristy area and the prices are quite expensive.There is also a marina and a large paid parking.The area is almost completely pedestrianised.The main street is decorated with works of art, fountains and umbrellas hanging over the heads of tourists.It is a quiet and quite clean area.But if you want to enjoy the traditional Mauritian life you have to move away from this area and walk through the narrow streets and the market of the old town. The central market of Port Louis was just 2 minutes walk via the under pass, though we did not like that market – so we ended up coming back to Le Caudan. There were good clean washroom facilities, lot of eateries, photo spots.Parking is also great – we parked easily in the Marina Quay parking (Some 120 Mauritian for 4 hours). Entering the Le Caudan is also super easy, despite the Port Louis traffic – though getting out we did find a lot of traffic just outside Le Caudan. Is was a long journey but was fun. The locals are friendly & proud of where they live & happy to share their knowledge with you. The Waterfront is a short distance from the bus station in the town & very easy to find. Nice & modern, coffee shops, So good to have a decent coffee & tea. There’s restaurants of all kinds. All at good prices. Plenty of shops. There are two small museums there. Really nice & enjoyable day out. We got a taxi back to our hotel as the bus had stopped running 2800 rupees we paid but we were at the opposite side of the island & when you take into account how cheap the buses are we didn’t mind.
