The food has always been exceptional and consistently so. However the past 2 times I have eaten there has been a disaster, out of extreme loyalty I went a third time today, firstly they get the order wrong which was a medium to well pepper crusted lamb cutlets they then took it back and applied pepper crusting and then burnt the lamb. I sent it back and on the 3rd attempt it came back rare…..I am heart broken that one of my favorite restaurants has gone to pot and I can’t go back again. We love the place, the atmosphere, we staff and of course the meal. The started were delicious, specially the springbok´s carpaccio. The meals really teasty. In the middle of the dinner some locals came from a rugby match against Australia, with their national team shirts, and it really was like the perfect touch to the evening. The wines they order for us were simply perfect. We enjoied very much the dinner dispite of the long journey from Spain. Aug 2025 • Couples We found this restaurant 9 years ago on our first visit to Johannesburg. Today we searched it out and being Friday, made a reservation for 7pm. The restaurant was busy yet well and competently staffed it appeared that a “team” of waiters serviced our area with friendliness and expertise but first and foremost let’s talk about the FOOD! Springbok carpaccio was delish, dressed artfully with freshly shredded cheese, sliced almonds, spring greens and balsamic glaze. We dive into it voraciously before I took the pic soy apologies! The Grill house platter was covered in succulent ribs, lamb culet, boerewors, beef kebab and sirloin. All incredibly delicious. The portions were so generous I was sad to not be able to finish. But that’s good for those of you who are local who can carry away a leftover bag. We had to try two desserts: malva pudding and raspberry ice cream loaf! My favorite was the malva but after letting the raspberry loaf sit a few minutes to get a little softer it was delicious for those who love fruit.It’s a rare restaurant that can continue to knock it out of the park for over 30 years!
