Our driver offered to stay to bring us back for 80 Tunisian dinar (very approx £20) which seemed like a good deal and ensured we got back just as easily!15 Tunisian dinar admission per adult (£3.50 ish) cash only!Park is a bit dated, not overly well maintained, everything in need of some tlc! We’d been told sea lion show was 10am, but couldn’t see any info about that…Once we started getting into the park we were told no, lions were being fed at 10am, so we started heading that way…Some cages were a little small, some animals looked a bit, erm, less than loved… But park was stunning, with plants, trees, colours…Lions upset us a little, they were psyched up to being fed, looked a bit underfed, they ended up very out of breath just running from cage to food… It was a bit uncomfortable watching them so we moved on ☹️Park is big, we spent about 2hr walking around… There are paths and signs, amazing views, little shops/stalls dotted about for souvenirs or snacks…You can do camel ride (I think 10 dinar/£2.50 each), approx 5min walk around… I believe there are other animals you can do that, lemurs, but not sure what others! All the usual animals, lions, tigers (not bears!), emus, camels, monkeys… Lots and lots of free roaming cats! There are areas for elephants and giraffe but there are none……There was a music display, African music and dancing which was kinda cool, next to the main souvenir shop… Large shop, packed full of options from leather goods, jewellery, perfumes/soaps, carved wood, trinkets, all sorts, and, unlike many places in the area, everything was priced, clearly! No hassle to buy, not pushy/harassing, but very helpful and friendly and kind! It was actually a pleasure to go and spend time shopping/spending there…For a half day/3hr trip it was fine to do/see… We were struck by the animals which were maybe not taken care of as well as we’d like, but we didn’t have a bad time…I’d probably recommend it if I you didn’t have far to go and wanted to see it….It’s just a bit old, needing some upgrades, but good for a walk.! However if you visit be there for 10am as thats when they feed the lions and tigers, what a highlight.Iv never seen so many lions and tigers in one zoo they all look well fed and happy which was relief after reading they looked malnourished. The guy near the deer and camels was handing out food (no charge) he was friendly and telling stories of the camels characters etc.We sat and had lunch by the crocodiles with a fantastic view of the mountains.Downsides would be:-The giraffe had passed away. The place is run down and there were no giraffes or sea lion shows, but it was interesting watching the big cats being fed – the noises they made were intense! I’ve not seen anything quite like that before. I’m not convinced the animals were happy, if i’m being brutally honest – it felt wrong to see the big cats being penned up before let out to feed and we saw a particularly unhappy looking Baboon (I think it was a baboon anyway). There were also young cats around – some with kittens, some clearly pregnant – i know they are stray but would it really hurt to have a spaying scheme? It was heartbreaking seeing kittens pregnant. There were interesting animals and it was a fun place to walk around. There’s a gift shop which is very reasonably priced and a couple of souvineer options and places to buy ice creams and drinks around the park – so take some cash for those. They aren’t’ expensive. A guy gave us food to give the deer – then asked for money for it afterwards (I walked away because i’m not ok with money demands AFTER i’ve been given something and used it). But had he of told me it cost, i would’ve given him something.Overall, this was worth the trip – although we did also have a Zulu dinner show afterwards in the restaurant by the entrance – i’m not sure it would’ve been worth going for just the zoo. I mean – animal park. Read more Review of: Friguia Park Visited May 2025 Traveled with family Written June 11, 2025 wander_world Birmingham, United Kingdom 25 contributions 4 of 5 bubbles Key points: Friguia park is closed on Mondays. It offers sea lion shows at 10am, 1pm & 3pm.Tickets are 15dt (just under £4) for the adults and 10dt (about £2.50) for the kids. You do the whole experience on foot unlike traditional safaris where it’s drive through. They have overhead bridges where you’d see the predators from and it’s completely safe. There is a 10 minutes camel ride available at the park for 5dt per person which I thought was great especially if you have small children, also if you want to experience it but don’t want to sit on a camel for 1 to 2 hours and end up with sore legs and thighs! Which is exactly what you get if it’s your first time on a camel and book a full ride.It took us little less than an hour in a taxi from Hammam Sousse to the Friguia park. Not overly busy this time of the year (Feb 2025). There was a small queue at the entrance. Once you’re through the gates, they have toilets and couple of little shops where you could buy ice cream, snacks and other small items. There is another bigger shop with souvenirs further down, the man proudly claims his items to be cheaper than Aldi, Lidl, M&S, Asda the lot! You’d also find a restaurant, more souvenirs shops and toilets facilities along the way. Among other animals, we saw lions, tigers, leopards, ostriches, camels, horses, cows, turtles, wolfs and a zebra. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any giraffes, elephants or kangaroos which was disappointing. We were told the giraffes died a couple of years ago and the elephants have gone back to India! No idea wha happened to the kangaroos but there were two Wallabies which are similar animals to the kangaroos but smaller in size. Overall it was a nice experience and the kids enjoyed the day out. When visiting the predators you are high so you can see them all clearly some were asleep but you would usually expect that mostly throughout the day. Camels Ostrich’s etc you are close up. The way it was all made was great. Would be better if you could feed them or throw something over, but either way it was a great experience was not just tired animals that don’t move. Some animals weren’t there but was pleased with the experience for the small price of 15TD £3.65pp Read more Review of: Friguia Park Visited December 2024 Traveled with family Written December 20, 2024 Ali Manchester, United Kingdom 42 contributions 3 of 5 bubbles We visited this place two weeks ago. We was a family group of 4 adults and 3 children under 3. The animals in this place was nowhere to be found. All in all i saw malnourished lions and tigers. We saw one monkey on its own in a cage that went crazy when he saw us screeching and jumping which was abnormal behaviour. We did see one ostrich again on its own and several other baboons. Towards the end we saw guinea pigs which were cute but again they all ran towards us together maybe because they was looking for food. This place is a good walk but just remember its a park not a zoo im assuming alot of animals have maybe died over the years and not been replaced. Would i visit again no as it was a waste of money. This place is buggy friendly but few stops quite high incline to push. The atmosphere is peaceful, the animals are beautiful, and the setting is green and relaxing. We particularly appreciated the proximity of the animals and the opportunity to observe them in their environment. It is an ideal place to recharge and spend a pleasant time with family or friends. Should really stop advertising it when it’s not there. Animals look very thin, no shelter from the sun and very little drinking water available to them. The lion show consisted of them opening their very tiny over crowded pen for it to be a race to get a chicken! Jul 2025 • Family The area and place are there to make this park a wonderful place, a Haven of peace for animals where they could LIVE and children run. Actually. This park is a dying place for all the animals present. They don’t live, they survive. The park and its animals are like abandoned. All the fences are old, rusty. The animals are in full sun, some makeshift shelters but no cool shade, no watering hole to cool down or drink as necessary. No vegetation that could benefit animals They are watered in buckets filled by the sleeve. Turtles only eat hay and I’m not talking about some other animals. This park is of great sadness! Even the amount of animals present does not make you want to stay and even go back. Our 5-year-old grandson cried when he saw the living conditions of the animals. Are there safe controls of the park for visitors and animal health in Tunisia? I would not recommend this park except and only so that the animals present at least eat to their hunger. And that’s not certain! J challenged the owner of the park on all these points and asked him why keep these animals in these conditions?
