Apr 2026 We visited the Karnak Temple on a guided tour of Luxor. This place is just WOW! My mind was absolutely blown by the ancient Egyptian craftsmanship, and how well things still stand after nearly 2500 years later. There is so much to see and so much detail on the columns, obelisks and statues to admire. Each king had added their own section to the temple, so each part is slightly different. Our favourite part was the Great Hypostyle Hall with its impressive 134 massive columns, each with its own details and inscriptions. I felt that our time there was too short due to guided tour; we could have spent all day there. An absolute must visit if you are in Egypt! The scale and age of the complex are impressive, it’s one of the highlights of trip.Possibly the best temple we toured. Massive scale. Endless history and exhaustive detail however as with EVERY single temple we have visited the most exquisite carvings are defaced and marred. Our tour guide mentioned they were all defaced by “Christians” but it is SO FRUSTRATING that a group of bigots decided to deface the most beautiful designs of antiquity.
