Begin with a scenic transfer from Gondar to Sankabar, the starting point of your trek. Upon arrival, embark on a 2-hour trek before reaching the campsite. Take in the panoramic views over the escarpment and observe the remarkable wildlife of the region.Spot large groups of the Gelada monkey, an endemic species to Ethiopia, along the way. After a day of exploration, camp at Sankabar, located at an altitude of 3,250 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy a restful night under the stars.On the second day, trek from Sankabar to Gich Camp, with a rewarding stop at Jinibar Falls. The hike will take approximately 6 hours, offering stunning views and a diverse range of landscapes along the way.As you progress, observe the lush flora and dramatic cliffs of the Simien Mountains. Gich Camp, situated at 3,600 meters, will be your destination for the night, offering a peaceful setting to relax and reflect on the day’s journey.On the third day, continue your trek from Gich to Chennek, a journey that will take around 9 hours. Along the way, pass through Imet Gogo, a spectacular viewpoint that offers unrivaled vistas of the Simien Escarpment.Take in the breathtaking panorama from this spot, with sweeping views of the jagged cliffs and valleys below. As you descend into the Gich Plateau, encounter the striking Giant Lobelia, a rare endemic plant that thrives in this high-altitude environment.Upon reaching Chennek, at an altitude of 3,620 meters, be greeted with more stunning views and an excellent chance to observe wildlife, including the iconic Gelada monkeys, the elusive Walia ibex, and, with some luck, the Ethiopian wolf. After a long day of trekking, camp at Chennek for the night.On the final day of your trek, have the opportunity for a morning trek around Chennek, allowing you to further explore the stunning landscapes and wildlife of the Simien Mountains. Whether you take in the views or try to spot more wildlife, it will be a memorable way to wrap up your trekking experience.In the afternoon, begin your descent back to Gondar, marking the end of your remarkable 4-day trek in one of Ethiopia’s most beautiful and remote regions.
