See what travelers are saying Learn more giulialolli23 1 contribution 5 of 5 bubbles I visited Hassan II Mosque as the first stop on a traveling trip to Morocco and was struck by the grandeur of the minaret and the size of the square. Among doors, inlays and mosaics is undoubtedly a must in Casablanca. The official guides of the Mosque will make everything more interesting (the guided tour is included in the price of the entrance ticket).I followed the guided tour with Mounsif, who speaks perfectly in Italian. He explained with clarity and passion the details of the place, as well as many notions about Islam, making every moment interesting and engaging. You can feel how much he loves his work: he answered many questions with kindness and sympathy and shared curiosities that made the visit even more complete. The tour ends in the ablution room and then on the large outdoor square, from which you can admire all the majesty of the complex. I highly recommend taking a guided tour, and if possible with Mounsif, to better appreciate the beauty and history of the Mosque. The visit is very interesting, as soon as you arrive you are sorted according to the language spoken to form uniform groups. The guide is in Italian and women are not asked to wear the veil. The visit is really very interesting and the mosque is really beautiful admired live and inside. Inside you can take photographs but not videos. Our guide said that it was the third largest mosque in the world. No matter where it ranks, it is definitely big. And pretty much no matter what language you speak, you can find a tour. We have been to other mosques in other countries and ladies always had to ensure that their heads were covered. Not here. And guys can wear shorts. You do have to take off your shoes so make sure to wear socks. And you have to carry your shoes around with you so don’t wear boots or something heavy. Our tour lasted about an hour but you can then tour the small museum or stroll around the outside. Hopefully, the roof will be open so you can soak up the sunshine from inside. Cost is 140Mad and includes the museum. Toilets are in the museum. Shoulders need to be covered to go into the mosque and shorts or clothes below the knee. I did see people in shorts which were just above the knee but I suggest you take a wrap or otherwise to cover your legs. You must take one of the official guides. Inside you stand by a sign to indicate what tour language you want. The tour is about 45minutes and there are set times for the tour. We did not need to queue for the tour. It was easy to buy the tickets for the time we wanted. We took the 139 local bus. 5Mad, from near Place des nations unies, United Nations square to the terminus which is on a side street a few hundred yards from the mosque. The return is from the same place. The guided tour provided fascinating insights into the mosque’s history, architecture, and cultural significance. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing details about the stunning mosaics, intricate wood carvings, and the impressive retractable roof that allows for an open-air prayer space.Walking through the grand prayer hall, with its towering marble columns and massive chandeliers, was breathtaking. The sheer scale of the mosque, which can accommodate 25,000 worshippers inside and 80,000 in the courtyard, is awe-inspiring. Standing by the ocean, with the sound of waves crashing against the foundation, made the visit even more special. The tour was well-organized, with clear explanations and plenty of time to admire the beauty of the mosque. It’s one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in Islamic architecture and history. If you’re in Casablanca, I highly recommend taking the guided tour—you won’t be disappointed! It’s the second largest in Africa, and its minaret is the tallest. On top of the minaret there is a laser that points to Mecca.Completed in 1993 – took 7 years to build – cost almost €600million much from public donations. You are in awe of the inside of the building with its handcrafted walls and pillars. It can hold over 25000 worshipers inside and a further 80000 outside. While there we also visited the bathhouse. The building is built on the outcrop and a platform was also built so that it was also built over the sea. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking — from the intricate tilework to the towering minaret overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, every detail showcases the mastery of Moroccan craftsmanship. The guided tour was informative and well-organized, offering fascinating insights into the mosque’s design, history, and cultural significance. I especially appreciated being able to step inside and witness the stunning interior — the blend of traditional and modern elements is awe-inspiring.The location right by the sea adds a serene and majestic atmosphere, making it perfect for both reflection and photography. The mosque is architecture stunning inside and outside the minaret is 210 meters tall & can seen all over Casablanca, with mosaic three quarters from the top. Inside there is wonderful carved timber, marble columns, marble & carpet floor + massive chandeliers. The mosque can accommodate 25,000 inside & 80,000 outside, complete in 1993 & only taking 5 years to finish. To enter you must remove your shoes & the gate attendance will give you a bag to carry them in while you are inside the mosque. The outside prayer area can accomodate 100,000 worshippers with 25,000 inside.Point 2: the last time we visited, we were ushered through the main gate / ticket office- can’t see you being allowed to wander the grounds. You can still get decent pics from the boundary line. Esperienza interessante, senza dubbio. Read more Written October 13, 2023 Answer Read all 4 responses Resort27014260109 BonsoirPeut on payer la visite guidée sur place ?
