See how Tanzanite is mined by both local miners and large operators, and discover the allure of the Tanzanian Ruby as well.After an early pick up in Arusha or Moshi, travel about 60 kilometers to the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, just south of the Kilimanjaro International Airport all the way to the Mererani area. This is the prime location where the Tanzanite mineral was discovered and the only place where you can find it in the whole wide world.This precious stone is found about 1000 meters deep underground, on a volcanic igneous rock. Descend down the mine to explore how the mining process takes place, as you explore the machinery and spend time with the miners on site.After your exploration, enjoy a delicious lunch before returning to your accommodation.
