🕓Reunion Island: Bike and Hike at Piton de la Fournaise

This active hike combines cycling and walking to discover the exceptional landscapes of the Piton de la Fournaise massif. The departure point is at the Commerson Crater, famous for its impressive volcanic chasm and its panoramas of the southern ramparts of the island.The route begins by bike in the direction of the Plaine des Sables. This vast mineral expanse, shaped by volcanic activity and erosion, offers a unique setting with red, ocher, and black hues that evokes lunar landscapes. The route continues to the Foc Foc parking lot, the starting point of the second part of the route.From Foc Foc, the hike follows the trail that runs along the Enclos Fouqué. Throughout the route, you will enjoy remarkable views of the volcanic terrain, the old lava flows, and the vast wilderness that characterizes this area of the volcano. The route then reaches Piton Bois Vert.The descent continues on foot towards the Puys Ramond, a group of volcanic cones that bear witness to the recent geological history of the massif. This part of the route allows you to observe the diversity of volcanic formations while enjoying a full immersion in a preserved natural environment.The return is via the same route, at a more contemplative pace.
