Your tour begins with pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport for a short drive to Karunguru Coffee Farm, a family-owned estate known for its long history of coffee cultivation. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by a farm guide who will introduce you to the origins of coffee in Kenya and the estate’s traditional farming practices.Start your visit with a walk through the coffee fields, where you’ll learn how the plants are grown, pruned, and cared for throughout the year. Your guide explains the different stages of the coffee bean’s development and how the climate and soil shape the final flavor. You’ll also see how the farm manages its crops sustainably and supports local communities.Continue to the processing area to explore each step of production. Watch how coffee cherries are harvested, sorted, pulped, fermented, and dried before reaching the roasting stage. The tour gives you a close look at both historical techniques and modern equipment used on the farm. This part of the experience highlights how each stage affects aroma, body, and overall quality. After the processing tour, visit the roasting room to learn how beans are roasted to different profiles. Your guide will explain how temperature, timing, and technique influence the final cup. You’ll then enjoy a tasting session where you can sample freshly brewed coffee made from the farm’s own beans. This is a chance to compare flavors, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of the tasting process. With the tasting complete, relax on the farm’s terrace or garden area and take in the peaceful rural setting. You may also visit the small shop, where you can purchase freshly roasted coffee, handmade crafts, and other locally produced items to bring home. When the visit concludes, your driver will meet you for the return transfer to your hotel or the airport, giving you a comfortable end to your coffee farm experience from Nairobi.
