During the drive, your guide will introduce key historical themes and answer questions, preparing you for a meaningful cultural experience.Start at the Richard Kandt House Museum, one of Kigali’s most important historical landmarks. This museum offers valuable insights into Rwanda’s pre-colonial and colonial history, traditional governance systems, and early urban development. Exhibits help visitors understand Rwanda’s social organization before the genocide, providing essential historical context.Next, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful and educational site commemorating the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Through exhibitions, testimonies, and guided interpretation, you learn about the causes, execution, and consequences of the genocide, as well as Rwanda’s path toward justice and remembrance. After the visit, enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant. Then, drive from Kigali to Bugesera District. Upon arrival, visit Mbyo Reconciliation Village, a living example of post-genocide reconciliation. Here, survivors and former perpetrators live side by side, demonstrating forgiveness, unity, and social healing. You may interact with community members and learn about reconciliation initiatives and livelihood projects. In the late afternoon, begin the drive back to Kigali. This is a reflective moment to absorb the day’s experiences and discuss key lessons with your guide.
