Day 1 Fort Patiko, Ajulu/Moon Hill, and Lukodi VillageBegin your adventure with a visit to Fort Patiko, Uganda’s biggest slave market exit. Walk through the “Gate of No Return” and learn about the poignant history of this site. Discover how goods were exchanged and hear stories of resistance and survival.Next, hike Ajulu Hill and find the small hole that protected over 1000 children from slave escape daily. Reach the hilltop and take in the breathtaking views of the savannah grasslands. If time allows, hike the Moon Hill, named after the beautiful missionary’s wife, and witness another stunning savannah sunset.On your way, pass through Lukodi Village and learn about the tragic events that took place during the LRA conflict. Hear stories of resilience and survival from the locals and gain a deeper understanding of the region’s history.Day 2 Amuru Hot Springs and Guru Guru Hills/ 1911 Lamogi RebellionBegin your day with a hike to the Amuru Hot Springs, separated into male and female sections – stretch 1.5 Km apart. Learn about the rich history and traditions that guide the hot springs and respect the customs by not taking anything from the site.Next, visit the Guru Guru Hills and learn about the Lamogi Rebellion resistance to British rule in 1911. Hear firsthand accounts from the great-great-grandson of the King or Rwot’s bodyguard, if available. See the century-old blood spot of the child who escalated the war and, if possible, visit the palace and meet the current Rwot.End your day with a beautiful sunset over the hills, reflecting on the resilience and strength of the people of Northern Uganda.
