Day 1 Iringa to Kitulo – Plateau Exploration and HikingBegin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel or a designated meeting point in Iringa. Travel to Kitulo National Park, enjoying a scenic drive through the southern highlands, passing through local villages and agricultural landscapes as you ascend towards the Kitulo Plateau. A packed lunch will be provided en route.Upon arrival at the designated public campsite within or near Kitulo National Park, your team will assist with setting up your tents. After settling in, embark on an exploration of the Kitulo Plateau. This park is renowned for its stunning array of wildflowers, especially during the wet season (roughly November to May).Enjoy leisurely walks and hikes through the grasslands, taking in the vibrant colors and unique plant life. Your guide will point out interesting species and viewpoints. You might also spot some of the park’s endemic butterflies and birds.In the evening, enjoy a freshly prepared hot dinner at the campsite, surrounded by the tranquility of the highlands. Spend the night in comfortable camping tents, experiencing the cool and crisp air of the Kitulo Plateau. dinner and overnight at kitulo camping siteDay 2 Kitulo Wildlife Viewing and Return to IringaStart your day with breakfast at the campsite. Then, embark on a morning game drive or another guided nature walk to further explore the plateau. While Kitulo is primarily known for its flora, you might encounter some wildlife, including eland, reedbuck, bushbuck, and various bird species like the Denham’s bustard and the mountain marsh widow. The vast open landscapes offer excellent photographic opportunities.Depending on time and interest, you can visit the Matamba Ridge for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Enjoy lunch at the campsite or a picnic spot. After lunch, begin your journey back to Iringa.
