Day 1After breakfast, drive approximately 100 km from Mekele towards the majestic Gheralta Mountains. You will be dropped off at the starting point of your trek. From the base of the mountain, begin a 1.5-hour hike to the breathtaking Youhans Maqudi Church, located high on the cliffs. After visiting this ancient church, continue your trek for 3 to 4 hours to reach Abune Abraham Church, a beautifully decorated site that dates back to the 7th century AD. After exploring this historic church, begin your descent to the base camp, a 2-hour walk.Accommodation Camping in a local village beneath a large tree.Day 2 After breakfast, prepared by our professional cook, continue your trek while enjoying the stunning views, wildlife, and traditional Tigrayan houses along the way. Your destination today is Mariam Papsite Church. After visiting the church, continue trekking for about 4 hours to reach the next base camp.Accommodation Camping in the village of Korkor.Day 3 Start the day with an early breakfast, then embark on a challenging hike to the highest point of the Gheralta Mountains, located at 2,700 meters above sea level. From this summit, enjoy panoramic views of the four corners of the Gheralta region. After lunch at the top, continue your trek to visit the historic Mariam Korkor and Danile Korkor Churches. After visiting these remarkable sites, walk for an additional hour to reach Hawzan. Finally, drive back to Mekele.
