Day 1 Axum → Tekeze/Limalimo → Sankaber (Drive + Short Trek)Begin your adventure with a morning departure from Axum, heading southeast towards the Simien Mountains. Drive through dramatic landscapes, descending into the Tekeze River Gorge and climbing via Limalimo, a scenic viewpoint area with switchbacks and panoramic views.Arrive at the Simien Mountains National Park area and head to Sankaber Camp, the main starting point at around 3,250 meters elevation. In the afternoon, take a short acclimatization trek around Sankaber. Enjoy an easy walk along the escarpment edge for incredible views of the jagged peaks, gelada baboons, and valleys.Overnight at Sankaber Camp, with options for basic camping or lodge/tented accommodations. Enjoy sunset views over the escarpment.Day 2 Sankaber → Jinbar Falls Trek → Drive to GondarAfter breakfast at camp, start the main trek from Sankaber toward Jinbar Falls. Follow the trail along the escarpment, through afro-alpine meadows, with chances to see gelada baboons, klipspringers, and birds.Reach the Jinbar Falls viewpoint, where you can admire the dramatic 500-meter plunge into the gorge. Enjoy the falls, take photos, and have a picnic lunch at the viewpoint or nearby. Return the same way to Sankaber.In the afternoon, drive from Sankaber back toward the main road, then to Gondar. Arrive in Gondar late afternoon or evening and relax after the trek.
