Day 1 Addis Ababa to Kombolcha/DessieDepart Addis early in the morning to maximize daylight. Take the route via Dessie/Mekele road (Awash–Debre Sina–Mersa). Stop for coffee and stretching at Debre Sina or at hilltop viewpoints en route.Arrive in Kombolcha or Dessie in the mid-afternoon. Check in to your hotel in Dessie or Kombolcha. Take a short city walk in Dessie to visit the central market area, main squares, and some local churches and mosques. Have dinner at your hotel or a local restaurant and rest. Get a local SIM/phone balance if needed.Day 2 Dessie City and Dessie Museum, AmbasselVisit Dessie Museum, which has been newly renovated. Spend 1–1.5 hours learning about local history and seeing restituted artifacts. Walk around the historic parts of Dessie and visit nearby churches (ask a local guide for opening times).Have lunch in Dessie and try local injera with wot and tibs. In the afternoon, drive to Ambassel and the surrounding highlands for scenic viewpoints and short hikes (1–3 hours depending on the chosen route).
