Experience one of the world’s most unforgettable wildlife encounters on this 3-day gorilla trekking safari from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. This short but powerful adventure takes you through the scenic hills of Rwanda into the lush forests of Uganda for an up-close encounter with endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.Mountain gorillas are among the rarest and most fascinating animals on Earth. They live in the misty forests of East and Central Africa, with a large population found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. These gentle giants share about 98% of their DNA with humans, making them one of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom.Gorillas live in close family groups led by a dominant male called a Silverback — named after the silver hair that develops on his back as he matures. The Silverback protects the family, leads the group to food sources, resolves conflicts, and watches over young gorillas. A gorilla family may include adult females, young gorillas, babies, and juveniles. Watching them interact feels surprisingly human — mothers caring for babies, young gorillas playing, and families resting together peacefully.Mountain gorillas are mainly herbivores. Their diet includes leaves, bamboo shoots, fruits, roots, and wild celery. An adult gorilla can eat large amounts of vegetation every day to maintain its strength.During trekking in Bwindi, visitors hike through thick rainforest with experienced guides and trackers searching for habituated gorilla families. Once the gorillas are found, visitors are allowed one hour with them, photography (without flash), and quiet observation of their natural behavior. Seeing a wild gorilla up close is emotional, powerful, and unforgettable.Mountain gorillas were once critically endangered due to poaching, habitat loss, and human conflict. Thanks to conservation efforts, tourism, and protected areas like Bwindi, their numbers have slowly increased. Today, gorilla trekking helps protect gorillas and forests, support local communities, and fund wildlife conservation. Every trekking permit directly contributes to protecting these incredible animals for future generations.Meeting mountain gorillas in the wild is not just a safari activity — it’s one of the most meaningful wildlife experiences in the world.
