See what travelers are saying Learn more The savvy traveller London, United Kingdom 155 contributions 4 of 5 bubbles Visited pyramids of Giza twice. Once in October 2024 and in August 2025. Two different experiences as in 2024 they had not introduced the hop.on, hop off bus system. The weather in October much more pleasant than August, and August is also peak season which makes it quite busy inside. But I will only update with August 25 visit and information as 2024 is now irrelevantThe entry fee includes the bop on and hop off bus but does not include going inside the 3 pyramids. 700egp is the adult entry fare and 1500 on top to visit Khufu pyramid. And further charges for the ok other two pyramids. Kids fare tends to be half. Please don’t be scammed by people walking around with ID badges that they show you. They are the camel and horse riding operators and will convince you that the better experience for pictures and viewpoints is though them. However since the hop on,hop off service has been introduced you get all the viewpoints. In Oct 24 I did the horse and carriage ride and in August 25 I did the new bus service and found it better. It is air conditioned, continuous service all day. There is a green bus which offers all the stations and pyramids. The yellow bus is a stop from the entrance to the “lounge”. Nice bar/ restaurant to eat with view of two pyramids. Public is also allowed to step in and take pictures. Speaking to one of the staff in uniform can turn out to be more helpful if you need guidance as they are employed by Giza pyramids rather than being reps with a badge. All stations have toilets, café facilities. Buy your tickets directly through the ticket office and then everything is pretty self explanatory and easy to navigate. Went went inside the Great Pyramid which, as a warning, could be claustrophobic for some people for the first 5 minutes of the walk up once you’re inside. I see a lot of reviews about being harassed. We were not harassed here (it was the only place in Egypt we weren’t so I think we simply got lucky). Ignore anyone trying to offer you any rides or tours or literally anything. I would suggest attending many of Egypt’s sites with a guide so you don’t get scammed and come very early to avoid crowds. We came here during Ramadan so I’m sure we got cooler, more tolerable temperatures and that it was even less busy. Read more Review of: Pyramids of Giza Visited February 2025 Traveled as a couple Written October 1, 2025 keypeepee Chennai (Madras), India 182 contributions 5 of 5 bubbles I thought I would be able to strike off one destination from my bucket list, but after my trip to Cairo I actually ended up writing Cairo once again. It certainly was a once in a lifetime experience seeing the Main Pyramids of Giza namely The Great Pyramid of King Cheops, The Pyramid of Khafre and The Pyramid of Menkaure. It is advisable to get to the site as early as possible (7 AM-5PM) as the extreme heat during the day can take a toll on those not used to the outdoors and heat. Remember to use sun screen, wear a broad brimmed hat and carry enough water to last at least 5 hours. The entry ticket for non Egyptians is 700 LE. For getting into the Menkaure’s Pyramid the entry ticket costs 280 LE and for the Great Pyramid the charge is 1500 LE. Tickets can be purchased at the counters outside the complex and once inside the entry tickets to get into the pyramids can be purchased at the entrance of the pyramids. Do remember cash is not accepted and you have to necessarily use your credit cards. Once inside the complex there is a area where the layout of the pyramids, its history and details are described in detail. Visitors need to take the hop on hop off buses from this point to reach the pyramids. The Pyramid of Khafre appears taller than the Great Pyramid as it is built on a platform. Words cannot truly express the efforts and expertise that has gone into creating the pyramids. I came back with more questions than answers. Entering one of the pyramids is certainly a experience as we can truly get a feel of the efforts that have gone into creating the pyramids and the extent the Pharaohs have gone to ensure their passage into the other world. Read more Review of: Pyramids of Giza Visited October 2025 Traveled with friends Written October 25, 2025 V.travel 227 contributions 5 of 5 bubbles We visited the Pyramids of Giza at the end of March and, although we were prepared, finding them in front of us was really exciting. The majesty of the site leaves you speechless, a place that is imprinted in the memory and heart. There is no shortage of difficulties, hot (better to go very soon), many people, sellers a little insistent, but nothing that can take away value from the experience. It is important to approach it calmly and curiously, letting yourself be enveloped by the story that you breathe everywhere. To make the visit even more interesting was the guide of our Egyptologist, a passionate and highly competent professor, able to make us relive the magic and life of ancient Egypt. For us, art and history enthusiasts, this journey came almost late, after so many years of desire, but perhaps it was right: we lived it with even more awareness and gratitude.A unique place, which offers authentic emotions and unforgettable memories. The tour guides and sales people at the gate were a little frustrating but it’s part of the Pyramids experience. There’s a cafe inside and you can buy souvenirs and get some stuff from vendors inside including water and soft drinks. You can also get a guide inside or do the camel experience and negotiate these prices so it’s easier and cheaper than pre booking. BUT… the scavengers that prey on tourists cannot be ignored..camel rides, horse drawn carriages, horse rides all come at a cost – you pay a “vendor” – he provides the transport, you then have to put up with the rider going on about “looking after him”. Hidden costs and demands for money are constant. As you walk around the sites, you have to be aware of locals (including officials) coming up to you engaging in small talk (v. friendly) and then asking for money – so hard to get rid off.If you’ve been taken for a ride(!) then when you get dropped off to settle up, you’ll be subjected to being offered/pressured into buying all sorts of concoctions, if you manage to escape that, then getting back to the main entry points is a mission, make sure you get dropped off at a public place, near the main entrances. It all cast a real fear for my wife and I towards the end of the visit. If you find yourself unsure what to do, pay a tuk tuck around 200 Egyptian pounds to drop you off at the Marriott hotel next door, have a seat, log into their free Wi-Fi and soak in the magnificent view of the great pyramid. Read more Review of: Pyramids of Giza Visited September 2025 Traveled as a couple Written September 29, 2025 Benjamin K 1 contribution 5 of 5 bubbles Highly recommended day trip. Everything was perfectly organized, both at the airports and on the tour itself. We were a small tour group with 13 people, our guide Machtmut spoke very good German and told a lot of the story. You had plenty of time everywhere and it was individually addressed to the wishes of the group, which should be visited first or how long you wanted to stay where. The pyramids with sphinx and the Egyptian museum were complete with continuous guidance, so very educational. A short stop at a perfume oil sale was completely casual and without any purchase constraint. The whole thing rounded off an approximately 45-minute boat tour on the Nile, where you could enjoy the Cairo skyline. The bottom line is a very good price-performance ratio. Read more Review of: Pyramids of Giza Visited September 2025 Traveled as a couple Written September 19, 2025 Aisling F Calne, United Kingdom 507 contributions 4 of 5 bubbles If you’re in Cairo this is a must. The key is to get early – literally at 7am when they open – to avoid the crowds. You can drive between pyramids but if you love a walk then it’s great for that too. You can also go in a lot of pyramids which costs extra – the biggest one being the most expensive. It can also be tight spaces and steep climbs once inside so best to keep that in mind. You will get hassled by vendors for camel rides etc and if they offer to take photos they’ll expect payment as well. You are amazed by the splendor of the structures. You can’t help but wonder how those huge stone blocks were so skillfully built thousands of years ago, in a time when technology was non-existent. A truly impressive feat of engineering!Unfortunately, I would like to mention one inconvenience we experienced during our visit. There are many vendors in and around the pyramids and most of them are very persistent. Even though we said “no” many times, they wouldn’t leave us alone. This unfortunately makes it difficult to enjoy the magical atmosphere. I think there should be a regulation on this issue as a country policy and these areas should be more controlled.I would definitely recommend you to visit the view points during your visit. Seeing the pyramids from afar, especially at sunset, really gives you a different feeling. You can take beautiful photos at those points and feel the majesty of the pyramids more clearly. There is also a very elegant restaurant nearby; if you have the time and budget, you can sit there and enjoy this unique view. All in all, seeing the pyramids is an experience you should have at least once in your life! Oct 2025 • Business Visiting the pyramids is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I thought the cost was reasonable and I was awestruck by the pyramids. Be mindful that you’ll need American or Egyptian cash if you want to purchase any souvenirs – but also be wary because the vendors can be aggressive. Those selling camel rides can also be aggressive – they seem friendly but will want money for even taking your photo. The trip inside the pyramids was just okay for me; it was underwhelming and extremely hot! If you don’t like tight, small, or crowded spaces, skip it. It is not clear how people could build them. But the picture was tainted by our guide Jalal, who shoved us a trip to the pyramids in a “carriage” for $30 per person. The other visitors got off $10.Instead of enjoying and admiring the creation of human hands, looked after the hauler and the horse of the unfortunate so as not to roll over.Instead of the promised 40 mines, there were only 20. But photos, movies, and documentaries don’t do justice to the size and magnificence of the pyramids. Not only that, but there are smaller pyramids on the Giza plateau as well. They are not as large and are in rough condition, but they are off in the distance. The best tidbit is that the pyramid of Cheops is the tallest, but his son, Khafre, built his on a slightly higher elevation, so it appears taller than his Dad’s. Sep 2025 • Family The Pyramids of Giza aren’t just Egypt’s most famous icons—they’re global legends. Rising above the Cairo desert, these 4,500-year-old structures are a mix of mystery, math, and pure human grit. From cosmic alignments to impossible engineering, they’ve kept travelers, explorers, and dreamers fascinated for centuries. The Pyramids of Giza, located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo, Egypt, are ancient royal tombs constructed for three Fourth Dynasty pharaohs: Khufu, his son Khafre, and his grandson Menkaure. The complex is also home to smaller “queen’s pyramids,” the Great Sphinx, and cemeteries for royal relatives and officials. Highlights included a camel ride through the desert, viewing the six pyramids and the Sphinx, and the fantastic guidance of Waghi, who was great at taking photos. The welcoming agent also provided a helpful recap before we began our trip. I highly recommend KH Stable. Their advice made the trip awesome including the opportunity to experience travel by both horse and camel. My friends and I had an unforgettable experience.
