See what travelers are saying Learn more Lady Es 15 contributions 4 of 5 bubbles Souk El Had is an absolutely exquisite market — a feast for the senses filled with beautiful goods, colorful displays, and the unmistakable energy of Agadir. You’ll find everything from handcrafted jewelry and traditional pottery to fragrant spices and rich textiles. It’s a wonderful place to explore local craftsmanship and culture. That said, be prepared for some persistent sales tactics. The shopkeepers can be quite insistent, and “no” doesn’t always mean “no.” Even after declining multiple times, you may still find yourself followed or pressed to buy. It’s part of the experience, but it can get overwhelming if you’re not used to it.If you go with patience and a sense of humor — and maybe brush up on your bargaining skills — Souk El Had is a must-see slice of Morocco’s vibrant market life. Read more Review of: Souk El Had d’Agadir Visited October 2025 Traveled with friends Written October 12, 2025 wendy h 43 contributions 4 of 5 bubbles A very busy place. It is massive. Watch out when you are browsing the items for sale as you WILL get harassed by the vendors and they WILL bug you to buy things you don’t want. I asked for the price of something, got taken in to look at stuff i didn’t even want. When i kept asking how much the item was that i wanted to buy, i was told “good prices” but i kept asking “well, what IS the price?”. Another item was being pushed on me, an item that had no relation to what i was after. They get very upset when you say no. As long as you are prepared to walk away or just concede defeat, you will be OK. Just be assertive.!There are loads of cats around and lots of kittens. They are well looked after with food from the vendors. It’s nice because there are no monkeys or snakes being thrown at you, like in Marrakesh but there are lots of things such as tortoises in little boxes and caged birds. I even saw a caged cat. The products are cheap if you can haggle. Here, the air is thick with saffron and cinnamon, with freshly baked bread and the scent of orange blossom drifting from hidden corners. Sunlight spills through latticed stalls, painting golden patterns on woven carpets and shimmering lanterns. The heart of Agadir beats loud in this lively market, each alleyway a symphony of sound. Merchants call, their voices rich with warmth and promise, inviting you into their world of treasures. The hum of conversation weaves through the crowd—haggling is not just a transaction, but an art, a playful duel where smiles soften the edges of negotiation. With each exchange, a story unfolds; with each bargain struck, a bond is formed. Jewels gleam, brass teapots catch the light, fabrics flow like water under your fingertips. The energy of the souk is infectious—welcoming, alive, a place where hospitality is not an offering but an instinct. A vendor presses a handful of dates into your palm, a gesture of kindness; another wraps your purchase with careful hands, as if gifting a piece of their soul. Souk Al Had is more than a market—it is a celebration of life, of human connection, of moments woven together in scents and colors, in laughter and exchange. You walk away with treasures, yes, but more than that—you leave carrying the echoes of this vibrant world in your heart. It is so relaxed people don’t come out calling you to there market stall, your left alone to browse and explore.Ask to be dropped in at gate 5 and picked up at 10 that way you get to see the authentic areas before the tourists bit at the end. Food is awesome clean and fresh. If it has a price tag you pay that price otherwise haggle it’s part of the fun! Taxi driver agreed to collect us at agreed time and place for return. The market us very big! Easily get lost within. Market stalls sell everything. Be prepared to be approached by people/ kids trying to sell you items or encourage you into their shop. As a tourist you will clearly be overcharged so be alert to this and dont be afraid to haggle or simply walk away. Overal worth a visit. Felt safe with young family and people were friendly. 2 hours is more than enough time. Read more Youssef L Thank you for sharing your experience. Review of: Souk El Had d’Agadir Visited July 2025 Traveled with family Written July 27, 2025 Sam G 163 contributions 4 of 5 bubbles We arrived fairly early (0945hrs) on a Friday morning by taxi from Taghazout. Most of the stalls were still closed but it gave u the opportunity to get our bearings and shop at a nice slow pace. I have a 15yr old who found the experience a little overwhelming once the haggling began but in my opinion I did not feel as harassed as i thought i would. A firm but polite “no, thank you” seemed to do the trick. Some stalls are very touristy but I found a guide online for the market and it showed everything is in areas which is great if you don’t have enough time and want a specific item. Good bargains to be had but you do need to be prepared to haggle. I bought a lovely leather bag that the seller said was 450DHS. I got it for 180. It did get very busy by the time we left three hours later. I am glad i went and would go back.TIP – Remember the gate number you came in on There are little courtyards outside which have toilets. The one we used was fairly clean but had limited tissue so take a packet with you. Read more Youssef L Thank you Sam for taking the time to share your experience at Souk El Had in Agadir. My 17 year old daughter and I walked around for a number of hours. We didn’t need a guide, yes there were stall holders after a sale but no one was disrespectful. I never felt uncomfortable being two women in the souk- just be mindful what you wear. We had long trousers and t shirt. There are toilets in the Souk (just have a 5 dirham coin handy for payment) in case you are caught short! The call to prayer was amazing to hear also and very humbling. Take the time to look everywhere, the food halls were amazing too. Delicious tagines and other delights.Getting a taxi outside of the souk to get back to the hotel was super easy, just agree the price before you get in! Easy to get a taxi outside our hotel (Iberostar). Didn’t feel pressured to buy anything. From about 12.30, it gets busier, so it is better to go in the morning (from 10.15 when stalls are fully set up). I would recommend it. Oct 2025 • Friends Great to visit a souk which is not designed primarily for tourists. Almost every person in here was a local doing their daily shopping. No hard sell from any vendor. No logic to the layout so can wander around for ages. Can also grab something to eat. Enjoyed our visit and yes we bought something, not souvenirs either, food ! It’s part of the experience, but it can get overwhelming if you’re not used to it. If you go with patience and a sense of humor — and maybe brush up on your bargaining skills — Souk El Had is a must-see slice of Morocco’s vibrant market life. Try to stick to long, light, flowy clothing to avoid being stared at.Only call the yellow/orange taxis they’re called grande I think, always talk the price before driving. Usually a taxi should be around 20dh from the city centre to any big tourist destination, if they overcharge you then get out, someone else will give it to you for this price.Make sure if someone says ‘im from your hotel’ that you don’t follow them. A lot of the time they’re just trying to get money from you after they’ve seen your all inclusive wrist band. Often people will come up to you trying to take you to places as a helping hand but will expect a fee, you don’t need to do this it’s very easy to work your way around.Chemists are everywhere if you require medication, you can even buy prescription medication (in the UK) over the counter here for a much cheaper price. I never felt that unsafe in Agadir, all the locals are lovely and always willing to help. Read more Written October 12, 2019 Answer Read all 3 responses Companion14040480872 Добрый вечер! Guess you should’t have problems on Wednesday and Thursday. In islamic countries Friday is like Sunday in Europe. In Morocco the french influence prevails and the shops remain closed on Sunday. Strangely enough, the souk stays closed on Monday. There are hundrets of stalls in the souk with the whole range of handcrafted as well as imported goods. If you like cooking I would recommend spices.
