Day 1 Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National ParkYour guide will pick you up from your accommodations in Kigali and transfer you to Akagera National Park. Enjoy an afternoon game drive.- Overnight at Akagera Game LodgeDay 2 Game Drive and Boat CruiseEnjoy an early morning game drive and, after lunch, a boat trip on Lake Ihema for a close encounter with the crocodiles and hippos along the river banks. You’ll also have the opportunity spot some of the over 525 bird species, both migratory and savanna dwelling, that are in the area.- Overnight at Akagera Game LodgeDay 3 Akagera National Park – Kigali – MusanzeHave breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive, before returning to Kigali where you’ll visit interesting spots which may include the craft market and the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site. Then depart for a two-hour drive to Musanze. You’ll arrive at Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Center in time for lunch before joining the local brew makers to learn about the process of brewing a local beer from bananas.- Overnight at Le Bambou Gorilla LodgeDay 4 Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National ParkAfter an early morning breakfast, you’ll transfer to the park headquarters together with your packed lunch. You’ll begin the morning with a briefing on the code of conduct while with the gorillas. Then head out into the forest in search of the gorillas with your guide. Finding the gorillas may take from two to six hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour.- Overnight at Le Bambou Gorilla LodgeDay 5 Lake Kivu – Nyungwe National ParkAfter early morning breakfast at the lodge, visit Lake Kivu and enjoy the morning breeze on the shores. Spend an hour there before heading on to Nyungwe National Park with lunch en route. The drive takes about four to six hours.- Overnight at Emeraude Lake ResortDay 6 Chimpanzee Trekking – Canopy WalkStart with another early morning breakfast and then you’ll head out for some chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe National Park. On finding the chimpanzees, you’ll have a one hour to watch and photograph them. After the chimpanzee trek, lunch will be back at the hotel. After lunch you’ll head to Nyungwe National Park for a canopy walk.- Overnight at Emeraude Lake ResortDay 7 Nyungwe Forest – Butare – KigaliHave an early morning breakfast and then transfer back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at the airport to catch your flight back home or at your accommodations in Kigali.
