Jan 2026 We were staying at a Sharm hotel without a beach (big mistake), but which ran daily minibuses to three ‘public’ beaches, which guests of our hotel are allowed to use. To the uninitiated, a ‘public beach’ suggests a natural beach which anyone can access, but that’s not how things work in Sharm. Terrazzina was unbelievably narrow, wedged between the more spacious private beaches of surrounding hotels. It was about the same width as a football pitch. It was *full* of awful junk: plastic inflatables and horrible bean bags. Down one side was some kind of cafe; down the other side was a bar. The beach was so covered in plastic junk it almost covered the sand. The bar tried to charge the same price for two Heinekens as I’d expect to pay back in England. When I tried to place my cotton throw at the front of the beach, next to the sea, two men came charging towards me shouting “No! no! Coral Hills up there!” So the people from my hotel were forbidden from sitting on the nicer part of the beach (which still wasn’t that nice). After having our position on the beach micromanaged, I found myself under a speaker which blasted out terrible music at a deafening volume – it was difficult to have a normal conversation. The beach was swarming with many young lads trying to get orders for food and drink from the ‘beach bar’, but I’d had breakfast only an hour and a half ago, and wasn’t hungry. In short, Terrazzina had everything I dislike about beaches in one extremely cramped spot. These things were excessively loud (and not my own preference) of very amplified music. If it had been Ibiza-style chill out, it wouldn’t have been so bad, but it was bad music. Also, intrusive touting for business (at inflated prices), and the presence of plastic furniture everywhere. It was very cramped, and we ended up right on top of another Welsh family. Also, we weren’t allowed to sit near the sea. It’s a sandy, smooth entry into the water and there’s practically no waves. There’s music, there’s a cafe. Very nice atmosphere. There is also a massage parlour on the beach. The food and drinks are very reasonable prices and there’s a DJ playing chill out music to relax too. The water is crystal clear with some coral bottom and there’re is plenty of water activities including banana boat ride parsailing and snorkeling. The loungers are so comfy and you get a fresh towel to lay on. Everything in this place is perfect and everyone is so friendly. Very rude staff, said I should have booked on the website. Previously I had read information at no time did it mention booking in advance was required. I offered to book on line if he could tell me which site, I went to their website from Tripadvor it wasn’t working. The guy stated they only wanted single women or rich European coach loads of customers who came from hotels who would spend lots of money. By this time my 8 year old nephew was getting very upset. My husband complained to the manager, told the beach was full, when there were few people there, it was obvious they just didn’t want our custom, because we were mixed race family. Terrible in this day and age, They just want white Europeans to milk them. Anyways there loss because we would have spent quite a lot of money there. Shame on them don’t go.
